Many people have suggested Mars as a life boat before Dr Zubrin ever talked about it.

I think you're in an underhanded way are trying to suggest this architecture is not designed for the Moon but for Mars.

In all the materials I've read Mars is mentioned once or twice as some place to go years from now. It's not integrated in to the plan. If it was the CEV and Lunar Lander would be good for Mars as well as the Moon. There clearly are not! Sure the launchers could be used for Mars but anything designed to reenact Apollo could be used to do Mars. The earliest they suggest they will even think again of send people to Mars is 2020!

You have a conspiracy theory going here that is nonsensical.

BTW, any launch architecture designed to reenact Apollo could land Dr Mazanek's telescopes on the Moon for his version of CAPS (Comet/Asteroid Protection System).
