re: Reports

Yes, Griffin was involved in the report for the Planetary Society. Provide us with a quote that says what you claim. I don't recall that anywhere in the report.*

They talk about Moonbases and fuels from the Lunar surface.

It has many of the features of the current plan, but is not the current plan so is not really germane.

I suggest you look to the current mission plans and as I said they don't plan to look again at manned Mars missions till 2020. Non of the spacecraft designs are good for Mars and no research on spacesuits or spacecraft useful for Mars are in the current budget. They see manned Mars missions as a couple decades away.

And again I point out: You have a conspiracy theory going here that is nonsensical.

And any launch architecture designed to reenact Apollo could land Dr Mazanek's telescopes on the Moon for his version of CAPS (Comet/Asteroid Protection System). For that matter they could launch pretty big scopes to space as well and easily man tend them.

*The PDF of the report (only 36 pages long) is here: EXTENDING HUMAN PRESENCE INTO THE SOLAR SYSTEM
