The Wall

We're talking open land Robert. The border is an imaginary line and in some spots there is nothing but land. It's way too easy too cross over right now. Sure the wall will not stop folks trying, but in San Diego a key portion where they used to just walk over by the hundreds daily was reduced to only a few dozen, and more easily captured and returned after they built a twenty foot concrete wall in parts and a simple fence in other parts. The wall project was called "operation gatekeeper" and has been in effect since 1994.

One knows how successful it is when Mexican activists complain

We have all these illegals and their legal descendants complaining. Being against illegal immigration has been made into being somehow unkind and uncaring. Suffering doesn't just occur in Mexico though and the US simply can't absorb the populations of all poor countries without becoming a poor country ourself. We already are burdened by the portion of Mexico's citizens who come of age and are guided by their government to our border. Healthcare costs, lowered wages..the impact is felt daily and is getting worse.

If illegals need to take boats to come in, then they will be much easier to catch too. It's all about reducing the number. Not stopping it entirely. The US wins if we can just keep Mexican illegal immigration to 100,000 per year. As it stands we're being flooded by over 10 times that much.

That we have allowed the current rate of influx, without checking it earlier, is truly insane.
