I am talking about simply extending the wall built and guarding our borders more effectively. We need to find a way to influence the internal situation in Mexico.
They need jobs and a productive economy. They have lots of land and companies have already moved factories to places south of the border.
If the wall is completed, companies desperately seeking cheap labor will likely relocate south of the border. This is where those tariffs discussed in other parts of this thread come into play. We need to do a real genius evaluation of our economic playing field and find a way to balance free trade while preserving and promoting American industries.
The wall is the first step though. We are hemorrhaging US dollars out of our economy at a frightful rate due to the illegal Mexican influx. Probably around 100 billion per annum.*
The wall is a priority. We need to voice this to our representatives and the President. It's not just a Republican or Democrat issue--it's essential to all Americans.
No, there will be no "real" war with Mexico fought with bombs and tanks. It is a strategic war, being fought with resources and willpower....and public relations. Mexico is waging a PR war, playing the pitiful victim--and somehow deserving of special treatment. It's time to educate the public as to the real cost of illegal immigration in our nation and gather the political will to finish a wall.
*Based upon a quick and rough estimate of 10 million illegal immigrants @ 10k per annum sent back home to Mexico
