What about the poor guy that lives in a remote amazon indian tribe- he lives a flawless life and sacrifices for others and in all ways is a very decent human being. Who knows what he worships as a god, but you can bet that he does not know anything about jesus, or the barbaric idea that he had to die for our sins.... He goes to hell according to your religion.
That is a rather sick and perverted idea, isn't it? And what about the infants that die? They certainly had no concept of the bible or jesus, I heard a preacher on the radio explain that those infants go to hell if they were 'pre-destined' to go to hell... (He told this to a grieving mother that called in to his program)
What if, as an atheist, I live a good life- treat all people as equals, try to help people where I can? What if I just dont buy the primitive BS? What if I do good because I think its the right thing to do, not because I am trying to kiss an imaginary God's butt so he doesnt make me suffer in hell forever? What if I only do good because I feel that our existance is finite and I want to die leaving things better for the future?
Think about a god that would torture a good human being for eternity just because that person goofed up and did not pick the correct religion out of dozens....
You want to worship that? If that is god, then to hell with god...
Who is the more holy? The person that does good because that is what he wants to do, or the person that does good out of fear of eternal torment?
I am an atheist, but if I were an agnostic my philosophy would be "Live a good and kind life- if that isnt good enough for god, then to hell with him" Why would you worship a god that sick and twisted?
Religion is a sickness, it served a purpose once- but now it holds us back. The idea that we need millenia old writings to guide our lives is silly. Look how many wars and deaths are being caused in the name of religion- Osama bin Laden is probably very devout- in his own way... Once you propose that your little fantasy is reality, then you lose the right to claim other peoples little fantasies are wrong- they believe their fantasies just as much as you believe yours...
What is wrong with trying to live a good life without accepting that god let some poor bastard be tortured and killed for our 'sins'?
By our laws God is a war criminal according to the bible...
Do I admit I am a sinner? Hmmmm... according to the bible- yes I am, so is %99.99999 of humanity- (over the age of 1 month)... does that bother me? Nope... What REALLY pisses me off is insecure losers trying to make their fantasies LAW. You are welcome to live your little lives in fear of 'god's wrath', but you have NO RIGHT to impose your sick little fantasies on my life.
You are welcome to try to send a probe to Mars with prayer....
