The Guardian's use of the word 'spying' is laughable. If leftist professors worry about the content of their lectures being recorded, and their words being used against them, maybe they should think about what it is they are saying.
I'm all for it. As a matter of fact it would be way cool if lots of students could earn an easy 100 bucks to publicize the contents of the leftist ranting which takes place in the educational arena.
If some left-wing group offers $200 to record the capitalist lectures of the economics teachers, I'm all for that too. The students are paying good money to attend the universities, it only seems fair they can profit from aspects of their 'education' early to start to recoup the costs.
Freedom of speech does not guarantee the freedom to brainwash kids quietly without anyone noticing.
