2 party system
The 2 party system we're stuck with means everyone with an agenda chooses the party they feel will 'carry their coals to Newcastle'.
The parties morph, like viruses, with new component individuals with new agendas in a changing world.
You will never get back the republican party of 1972, 1988 or 1996. Nor will we see the democrats of 1944, 1961 or 1976.
It's somewhat sad, but not that sad. The parties have a long history of flipping and exchanging components of their ideology.
It's really the world you have issues with. Today's republican party is a reflection of today's new realities.
