The blind spot where [stuff] just happens
You don't really expect to get away with denying that things happen for a reason, do you? Nor should you expect to get away with suggesting broken causal links as an explanation.
For the latter:
And yes, the U.S.S.R. was the push behind most of the communist "uprisings" back then.
News flash: The Soviet Union is no more. It makes a particularly ineffective scapegoat. Who is to blame today for outbreaks of Leftism? You seem to believe that nobody would ever voluntary choose a Marxist system, so who is the evil genius pulling the wool over their eyes now?
Could the persistence of Marxist belief systems despite the lack of significant state sponsorship these days disprove your belief that Marxism must always be accompanied by a tyrannical government? It seems to be doing just fine as an independent meme, and doesn't seem to require coercion to keep it alive. That must be quite a puzzlement to you.
The former is everything else in your post, flying proudly under the banner
As for the rest, it's a standard liberal assumption that the only possible reason we could be hated by anybody in the world is because we're doing something wrong.
And you, on the other hand, rationally assert that nothing that America has ever done could possibly result in us being hated by anybody, anywhere. That's so much more logical.
"They jes hate us" totally lacks any explanatory power, and it's deeply irrational and a dangerous obstacle to understanding the situation we're in. The United States is powerful and influential, in many ways, not alone militarily. How can you simultaneously maintain that the world revolves around America, while denying that any perturbations in the world's orbits could possibly have anything to do with us?
You want power without responsibility, is all. But if you'll remember your self-proclaimed value system, that's not possible. America has to accept responsibility just as much--if not more--than any individual. We can't just shrug and deny any knowledge of how the window got broken, while holding a baseball bat and glove in our little hands. That's childish.
Who broke the world, Tom? Who broke the Middle East? "Not us", he says, and shrugs, grinning guiltily. "It just happened, I reckon". Would you accept that from one of your kids?
