Small world - though since you grew up in the Okanagan, not completely amazing.
If he ran a ferry boat, it would have been the Anscomb/Balfour pair, two boats that crossed Kootenay Lake and were for a long time part of the main highway (now called the Crowsnest). The Anscomb was my favourite because it had an upper passsenger deck with a cafe. Sadly the Anscomb and Balfour are both gone, but they have been replaced by a beatiful new vessel, the Osprey, which continue the tradition of carrying passengers on the longest (35 minute) free ferry trip in the world.
Questions... hmmm. Was he on the Balfour and Anscomb? Did he ever get into the Cody Caves? Tour the Bluebell Mine in Riondel? Visit the house built of embalming fluid bottles? Hike up to the the Slocan Chief? Please say "hi" to him from a Kootenayite.
