It's already crystal clear from his current positions that he would have surrendered in Iraq at least a year ago, and the place would be at the height of a real civil war. Worst case, Iranians would be consolidating their hold on that country right now, even as they continue to battle Israel with their Shiite proxies. For the terrorists, the only step remaining would be to use the same techniques to get him to run out of Afghanistan.

If we're a "paper tiger," some of it is because there is a large number of Americans and others ostensibly on our side that are dedicated to our defeat. Our enemies wrap bombs around children, plant them in ambulances, fire missiles deliberately at civilian targets, and break every rule of warfare, including the informal ones. Meanwhile, our side gets the vapors if we don't handle prisoner's Korans with white gloves.

And yes, the media is in the throes of plateau orgasm over the Buckley interview. If he had supported Bush, you would never have seen a word of it on the air.
