I've never disputed that the bomb plot was real. In fact I think it's a real and scary threat.

However Tom it might behoove you to point out that the plot was foiled by good old fashioned police work and not an armed incursion into a Mideast country. From what I've learned of the uncovering of this plot, it involved tips to police. Those tips I'd assume came from people close to the perpetrators, more than likely Muslim. I would hope they tipped the authorities because they believed the acts beyond the normal realm of political protest and outside of their ethical beliefs.

I also know that human beings that have ethical dilemnas like turning in their kind, tend to be bent by world events. It sure seems, to the more rational people I read on these forums, that our conduct right now in the World is more likely to disenfranchise potential stool pigeons than to enlist their aid.

Do you think these people came forward out of their fear of our "smart" bombs?
