I'm sure you are aware of the guys we had on the ground in Afganistan?

The ones who arrived before and with the special forces who showed up? All the sig-intellegence work we do? The hum-int operators we send in harm's way? Not sure what it is you think we don't do now, in the way of intellegence.

Haven't attempted any assassinations of world leaders lately, I guess. If that's what you are referring to, then no I don't think we need to bring that back.

In any case, back to the point: there is a lot of stuff we do that does not involve policemen, and that takes place NOT "located in a country with good, old-fashioned police". You even referred to some of it in your post.

Unless you really really need to invade a country that actively shelters the bad guys, then using the army will make it worse not better. Even in those rare cases and even if you do get the bad guys, there will be many harmful side-effects.
