I think belief does imply lying if it fails to acknowledge contradictions.
If one thing contradicts another, then one or both are incorrect. Religion is chock full of such contradictions. Religious fanatics and "educated" religious leaders aren't thinking straight. They've suppressed the realizations that contradictions exist within their doctrine, and have instead pursued the conversion of others to it. Stupid IMO.
