Let me re-iterate: When there is a TV program on that I do not care to watch, I rely on a nifty little gizmo that, when I push a button, allows the invasion to cease. It is called: the remote.
I feel that religion is "The opiate of the masses"...Karl Marx.
HOWEVER...insignificant as it is in My life, it is paramount to others. I respect this. It is what it is. We are all at a different stage of growth in our self-evolution. If religion helps someone find comfort in the loss of a loved one, or helps someone just get through the daily grind of the mundane...whatever reason...then "It is a good thing". I, myself, am a self-proclaimed spiritual revisionist...I am constantly revising my belief system, which seems to be morphing into a secular dogma. I am currently reading Richard Dawkins' book, "The God Delusion"...and was surprised to see that I am slowly beginning to lean towards the atheist persuasion. This , however, is not written in stone. Marthas' recipe for Marthas' belief system is: One part Buddhism, a hint of Hinduism, a dollop of Taoism, a few drops atheism, Native American, Judaism, and even Christianity. I choose to ice this marvelous (my stupid IMO) concoction with a HUGE layer of the Golden Rule. I am amazed at the quieting of my soul when I partake in this creation.
I KNOW I do not have the answers for anyone else...nor do I want to. My passion and personal goal in life is to be unafraid. I am not diminished by someone elses' opinion on anything. If they try to ram it down my throat, I respectfully listen, and discard. I might even learn a thing or two in the process. Even if the lesson is: "Note to self: I do not like what this person has to say:Disregard, and have nothing further to do with him/her."
If anyone chooses to enter into my life, take your shoes off, come sit at my round table, relax, and enjoy the exchange of ideas. Everyone has the right to be heard. You will notice my tablecloth is woven in the colors of diversity. I never have to wash it, because it never gets "dirty"...it only becomes more imbued with tolerance. All are welcome.
