Good point.

Theists usually demand God be all-powerful, all-knowing, eternal, etc. etc. What if there is a god but he has limits, restrictions, things he cannot do? In other words, God is not a supernatural being, just a very advanced one, very powerful but still subject to the limitations of the laws of nature. What if there is more than one god? What if there was a god but there is no longer one around, he is tired, resting, dead, or doing something else somewhere else. Or what if god has just forgotten us, or just doesn't care. The dilemma of the theist is not just the binary choice of "Is there a god, yes or no", it's that in order to accept the theist program, you have to make assumption after assumption just to prop it up.

Actually, a very good hypothesis that fits the available evidence (the complexity AND indifference of nature) is that god exists but he just doesn't interfere. He made the world so perfectly he no longer needs to stick around to manage it.
