This NASA video footage has been circulating for a while, but it still is curious, and should open up discussion for creative thought. It is footage of the broken tether as the Shuttle passes further and further away. What is noticed at approximately 2.50 minutes into the video, is this enomous amount of fire-fly type activity around the tether....these huge luminous objects that dart in from every diection and look like they're curious.
But what are they?
They have the little "pac man" chunks out of them, such as are photographed down here as "anomalous" objects.
Ground Control mentions seeing a "lot of things swimming in the foreground", and after a long pause, the astronaut mentions that it's "a little bit of debris that flies with us".
Wasn't it Gordon Cooper who mentioned these types of "firelies" before?
I also remember Russian astronauts describing <this.>
