True

My uncles made UFOs for fun when growing up in a small Oklahoma town... With enough helium I could make a UFO that the UFO nuts would be talking about for years- I drew up plans that were so detailed I actually calculated the amount of helium I would need.

In college, there was a furor at OSU over the proposed showing of the 'last temptation of christ' in the student union theater- I got a 3-4 foot weather balloon filled with helium (got the helium at a steal- the lady at the party supply store figured that a 32 inch balloon could only hold 4 times the helium of an 8 inch balloon :). I tied it to a posterboard sign that said in big letters "SHOW THE MOVIE- GOD" and hooked it wth fishing line to the bumper of one of the board of regents car.

It floated there about 50 feet above the union for a while before it was cut down... I like to imagine it drifted and landed in some confused corn farmers field in Kansas- sort of like 'Field of Dreams' with an attitude...

But the best was in oklahoma city- Red Lobster put up a billboard along I-35 that featured a HUGE inflated lobster- they were not familiar with what the term 'tornado alley' implied, I guess... A bad thunderstorm came through and the lobster became what had to be the most unusual UFO ever- it flew many miles before landing in a farmers field- I would pay money to have seen his face...
