We just may not know it yet. When we don't have all the facts, then the simplest, most ordinary explanation is probably the right one. I don't need to analyze the video to prove they were birds, they look like birds (the simple, ordinary explanation I'm familiar with) to me. You need to analyze the video to prove they are not. None of the spectacular behavior described in the article is visible in the video.
It could have been UFOs, it could have been a flight of jets, it could have been satellites, or meteors, or angels. It could have been alien spacecraft disguised as balloons. But the easiest explanation is what they looked like to me, something I have witnessed before and verified by direct observation and which I have witnessed other people misidentifying.
As for the nine hundred ninety-nine 911 calls, "999" is the telephone number people in the UK call for Emergency Services.
