They're birds. If you watch the video closely you can actually see the wing beats, at about a rate of 2/sec. Where I live they're as common as dirt: usually gulls, ibis or egrets. In Europe, they're probably stork. The oily ventral feathers reflect mercury vapor steetlights (foreground) and perhaps the low sun, to give off an eerie amber color that contrasts spectacularly against a dark blue sky. If someone had thought to reach for a pair of binoculars instead of a camera, there would be no story here.
I've seen similar displays here in Florida dozens of times, and without optical aid they can indeed be quite spooky, but once you've actually see them their motion is so distinctive that you never make the same mistake again.
Now, can I actuallly PROVE these are not a fleet of alien spacecraft? No, but a perfectly good alternative explanation exists. I can think of at least another one that matches the observation, a group of balloons carrying sheets of paper or foil that twists in the breeze. That would probably have to be a deliberate hoax, or a goofy advertising stunt of some sort.
Not very likely, but still more likely than UFOs.
Cmon, guys. Is this the best you can do?
