I completely understand and respect your point of view. I, myself would never have had an abortion. I am pro choice. I just know what will happen should we go back to the 'abortion is illegal' time frame. Women and men have always been, and will always be promiscuous....and unwanted pregnancies are a fact.

My mother worked in the recovery room at our local hospital after abortion was legalized, and she was appalled at the sheer number of girls opting for abortions.

At the same time, I worked on the pediatrics floor, and I was appalled at the child abuse cases.

My brother and his wife, 23 years ago, came to me and my husband, for money so they could get an abortion. We said no, and almost became outcasts in my family, because Mom and Dad thought we should fund it....(My mothers' view had obviously changed to suit her needs...which were completely selfish)

They had the baby. He was born with a double set of chromosomes and died at 4 months old.

6 years ago , we were presented with the same dilemma...but different person. We paid for the abortion this time because we felt it was the right decision...albeit an EXTREMELY painful one. I lost my first grandchild.

I do not take the pro choice stand lightly....it is anguish.
