"But is a culture of cells building a new life? A culture of cells is different from a fertilized egg, and you know you know that. A fertilized egg is not only human and alive, it is building a person."
A culture of cells divide and grow. A fertilized egg itself is not building a person. A Fertilized egg in the environment of the Womb and with the life support system and nourishment of the mother is building a human life- until at some point that foetus can subsist without the body of the mother. Thats why I choose that to be a human life- and yes, its a choice.
But you can't just say that a fertilized egg is a human life without saying that brainless bodies, cell clumps, coma vegetables and etc all share the same moral attributes and presence as a walking, breathing thinking human being.
You want, again and again, to say 'well, you have my opinion and you have yours and they're both equal'. Thats fine. I don't disagree. I think your opinion is stupid, again for the same reasons I've stated here and elsewhere: namely that your justifications are irrational and lead to absurd conclusions.
However, what you are waffling back and forth on is this issue: Do you seek to enact or have enacted for you legislation that puts the force of law behind your belief. Sometimes you say yes, sometimes you say no. If the answer is yes, then you simply can not argue that any two POVs are just as valid- because you are trying to rob me of the right to act according to my POV and justifying it by, in essence, saying I am wrong, or that my POV is immoral. You can't have your equality of perspective and legislate against those who disagree with you.
You want to cast me as some sort of bastard here that does not accept your right to your opinion. While at the same time, saying that your opinion should be the law. Stop being a Hypocrite!
Now, beyond this issue, I believe you have a right to your opinion, but that does not nor should not prevent me from arguing that your full of shit, and trying to say why. Your beliefs may be sacred to you, but that does not mean I have to accept them as true. Especially when, as far as I can tell, you can't argue your way out of paper bag in trying to defend them.
I don't respect your POV. There is no reason I should respect POVs that are irrational or tyrannical. I don't support the POV that Jihad entails bombing the shit out of everyone someone determines a sinner. I respect your right to your POV, but stop confusing issues here yet again. There is a difference. Nobody has to respect anyones POV- just that they have a right to one, and the right to speak from it or act upon it as long as it does not aridge anyones inalienable rights as defined by our free society.
