re: daycare
There are a lot of times when daycare is not a choice, but a necessity. Job issues can come up, hopefully temporary, or a parent can become single. My sympathy goes out to all those quiet, hard-working moms and dads who, by themselves, have to raise kids AND bring home the bacon, and don't think the world owes it to them.
I think what I find irritating is people that you KNOW could manage just fine on one income deciding their careers are more important than their kids. I find it particularly irritating when they try to sell me on how much better institutional daycare is for a kid.
