And what I find irritating is the continuing expectation that Mom is the one who should give up her job.
Unless she's nursing, the expectation could go either way.
When one considers that women live longer than men, and have less retirement income because they have less time in paid positions, and nobody pays matching funds into retirement accounts for stay-at-home parents, the expectation that Mom is the one who stays home needs to change.
