A journal of the plague years

The trouble with social revolutions is that while you're actually living through them, they don't seem all that significant. Something that big could be going on right now and we probably wouldn't even notice it.

I was a senior in high school the year the Beatles came out, I remember it all, JFK, RFK and MLK's assasinations, Civil Rights, miniskirts and bellbottoms, long hair, Vietnam, radical politics, the drugs and rock n roll (there never was enough sex). But it wasn't until Watergate that I realized anything fundamental had happened. And it wasn't until Reagan's election that I understood it really didn't matter anyway.

What do I miss most? The music. That will always be with us, and it will always matter.
