Purely hedonistic.
I love the 1940's.
The music. (No one sticks anything in their brass anymore 'waa waa' )
The clothes for men and women- shoulder pads, pleated trousers and hats.
A smoke was just a smoke and getting laid didn't give you anything that couldn't be cured by penicillin. (Well, almost)
Houses were small, lifestyles were more modest.
Single malt scotch wasn't cool yet.
Cars had white walls and carburetors and nothing in your life was controlled by pre-programmed logic on a silicon chip.
Palm trees and warm weather sounds good. I would have liked to have lived in California- before traffic and pollution.
