"Let all the poisons that lurk in the mud hatch out...."
I Claudius is a great series. I watched it on TV when it came out back in the late 70's, but my adolescent brain wasn't catching it all. Mrs. Podrock and I watched the whole series about two years ago (she's a history buff) and really enjoyed it. It's a fascinating story.
Also fun, of course, was watching all those wonderful BBC actors in their youth: Benard Hill, John Rhys-Davies, John Hurt, and of course, Patrick Stewart - with a full crop o' hair.
We watched it on very old VHS tape, which was the only drawback. I've not checked to see if it is on DVD. If it is, hopefully it was remastered for DVD, 'cause sometimes those quick transfers are worse than VHS, especially the audio.
