The past- nice place to visit, but I wouldnt want to live there...

Quite frankly if it wasnt for modern antibiotics, I would already have been dead MANY times over given the number of ear infections and strep infections I had as a kid-

The fact is, MOST people would fare very poorly if they went to live a few hundred years in the past- life was quite brutal back then- I have been listening to a history of england on a book on tape- Its at the 15th century now, and it has been a long saga of starvation, plague (The black death killing of nearly half the population), and brutal savagery- so far the history has had no time that I would want to live in...

Now, if you change your question to "What time would you like to visit?" well, I would go back to 1770's new England and try to meet the founding fathers- Adams, and Franklin especially- and I would take my laptop with me to show them what their creation would become- Imagine showing them the footage of the american flag being planted on the moon! Or an African American, and a woman running for president... Can you imagine how they would would be blown away by our discussions of 'should we return to the moon first, or should we concentrate on going to Mars?'- Heck, mini skirts alone might send them into shock...

I had to take history in college, so I chose to take early American history (Mostly covered the revolution), and a course pretty much devoted to the civil war- much to my surprise I greatly enjoyed those courses, I would have taken more history if I had known how fascinating it could be- (I DID have exceptional teachers....)
