It actually sounds kind of interesting.
I am still not convinced that Time Travel is possible. The difference between any given moment in the past and the present is the position of atoms. All then atoms that were here in the past are here now, just some have moved. (Yes, I know some atoms escape the Earth and new atoms are arriving on the Earth, but the majority of the matter on the Earth has always been here since its formation.)
So to go back into the past, you would need to put today’s atoms in their yesterday position. If you could do that, you wouldn’t really be going back into time, you would just be recreating the past.
I have come up with this idea that matter leaves a path as it moves through space. Each atom has its own path that can be traced back, if you know how to look for it. With such technology, you can trace the path back of every atom of the Earth and get a picture of any given moment in the past.
This idea is in three stories I am currently working on. (I call it an idea because I really don’t have any evidence to make it into a theory). I have talked about it here before.
Armed with this knowledge and the power to trace back the path of every atom on Earth (Can you imagine the data storage needed to hold that much information!) many possibilities open up.
In one of the stories, there is an exact copy of the Solar System, atom for atom, and scientist/historians have the path of every atom of the real Solar System stored. They can use their technology and data to recreate the past.
They have two modes of operation. One is where their computers control the motions of every atom so they can watch a replay of history. The other mode is where they set up a moment in the past and let it run independently. Then they can introduce changes and see what happens. (One of the problems I am having is that the stars would be different around this Solar System copy. I am placing it close to our own Solar system to help account for this).
