Compromise is the result of a babble type society, and IMO democracy can not stand in such an environment. Democracy needs stability, conformity, and a sense of belonging to work. Democracy isn't about compromise, it's about consensus, and consensus comes about when the people have a common point of reference. Jello doesn't congeal in a blender.
