You're still not making sense

Mapping your answer on to my question, you seem to be saying that democracy derives from laissez-faire capitalism, or lower taxes, or smaller government. That's utter nonsense, and, based on your own dogma, a ridiculous reversal of cause-and-effect.

Democracy is a root principle because everything else you value flows from it. Democracy gives citizens choices, the power to decide for ourselves not only the small things but the big things like an economic system, the tax rate, and the size of government and the scope of its activities.

I don't know why I'm bothering to point out the obvious. We've established long ago that you, like most Conservatives, dislike democracy because people have a distressing habit of making the "wrong" choices. I understand how your vision of electoral nirvana is to restrict the vote only to people who pass a "competency" test written by Conservatives, guaranteeing that they'll vote the "right" way.

Amazing too the hypocrisy of holding laissez-faire capitalism sacred and decrying any attempt to regulate it as sacrilege, while you're willing to jettison democracy at the drop of a hat if it gets in the way of your ideological ambitions.

And you have the nerve to call yourself a patriot.
