re: A genuine Beta gesture

That looks like fun...let me try it...

Tom: It's not like someone is putting a gun to your head and forcing you to buy Entenmann's. The free market, if left alone and not burdened by cumbersome, excessive regulation, will determine the success or failure of new products. I posted a few links to the bakery sales charts covering 1965 and 1984 and naturally the response was drowned out by those crickets chirping. However, if anyone actually had followed the link and looked at the chart, they would have seen that Van de Kamp sales were slowly dropping throughout the entire seventies after peaking in 1965.

You'll also note that after 1973 the, even/odd last digit license number determined, gas rationing days, set up by a Democratic Congress, did a lot of good businesses in, by killing sales. Looking at the graph and the corresponding sales drop, I suspect Van de Kamp was one of these.

I'm banging my head against the wall here, trying to explain the value of Capitalism to national infrastructure. Unfortunately, when one has long since abandoned rationality as something to be viewed with suspicion, if not outright disdain, arguing this is pointless. I've seen the same behavior and confusion in convulsing, meth-laced lab rats.

Smell the coffee folks.
