First, media people devote their lives to understanding the issues. They tend to be more sophisticated.
Second, some ideas and philosophies do not deserve equal time. In a discussion of astronomy UFOs may not deserve equal time.
Third, just like a football game, if more fouls are called on one team it may seem as if the officials are biased. It may be that one team commits more fouls.
"Equal time" is often a mistake. McCarthy in the early '50s got "equal time" when he deserved no time.
The Conservative agenda is a failure, leading to failed economies, failed wars. The US used to be a much greater force in the world than it is, the changes being due to Conservative practices. Who wouldn't be biased?
And all that is assuming there is a liberal bias. It's just a way of saying that if there is there are good reasons. (And that there should be.)
However, if you want to see bias, tune in Fox.
