You do notice that I posted my message, and most the replies were posted, well before the debate started, right? You might not have noticed that the thread's about criticism of CNBC's cynical distribution of a supposedly-important public event to a closed paying audience.
Though of course I haven't seen the debate, just a few clips from the highlight reel pirated off the satellites, not being a fat cat and all, everybody seems to have something critical to say about how CNBC handled moderation. But the other side of that issue is the criticism that the moderators (colleagues of Screaming Jim Cramer, no less) let the politicians get away with never answering a tough question.
Exhibit A was Cruz's strategic rant that you admire. Did you notice that it let him get away with evading the question?
Did you notice every other Republican candidate evading the tough questions by dangling the shiny object of The Mainstream Media in front of y'all?
This debate was supposed to be about the economy, and I think that's a particularly sore point with Republican politicians these days. Your position's not really very strong when the result of four decades of applying your policies has been to ruin the middle class and enrich the wealthy. And when today your only "policy prescriptions" are to continue to parrot "lower taxes or burn it down!" as the answer to any question about the economy.
I'm shaking my head too, Rob, but clearly I'm shaking it the other way.
