The one prevailing note of the liberals here and elsewhere is fear and hypocrisy.

They fear the government - but only when the right is in charge. And why? Well they fear the government is becoming oppressive and is used to further their own agenda.

Like was everyone on the left asleep in history class? Were they ditching? Just smoking weed out behind the bleachers? Perhaps all of the above.

Since Woodrow Wilson, the left in America have created the personal income tax, introduced the abhorrent Social Security system to further rob American workers and then a democratic President FDR blackmailed the Supreme Court to keep it from being declared unconstitutional.

Now we have millions of laws, city, state and federal which we must live under.

Naturally, the human reaction to such oppression is resistance. Ronald Reagan, Howard Jarvis and others typified this resistance to the snowballing oppression into the personal life of the average American.

Nothing typifies this more than the government intrusion into all affairs large and small. It is our "privilege" to pay taxes, to drive, to fly a kite, to paint our house a different color. We must use government approved toilets to relieve ourselves. Its only a matter of time before the "liberals" impose their endless authoritarianism and require all toilet paper to be government approved recycled pulp.

Yes, Art...America is right of center. It started during the Eisenhower era and just continued on through today, and it is a reaction to a century of leftists bloating up the government and turning it into mommy.

Yes, most liberals have issues with their parents. I've found this true of almost all the liberals I know and have known.

Liberals hate daddy.

Daddy is mean, insensitive uncaring. He makes you fend for yourself. He is a (shudder!) conservative.

Mommy makes it all better, kisses the wounds, gives a big hug and never appears so distant. So the goal for liberals is to make government like mommy. Mommy wants you to conserve energy. Mommy wants you to recycle. Mommy wants you to be kind to the spotted owl. Mommy wants you to be good, but mommy won't punish you when you aren't good.

Yes, that's the ideal liberal government - mommy. Mommy frowns on the fact that you are a reeferhead, a drunk, have herpes and are easier, and cheaper than a red light district hooker. But hey, she wont punish you for it - only daddy does that. Mommy will patiently listen to you whine like a sissy for hours, days and weeks and she will keep her comments to herself. Daddy will beat you, or tell you to suck it up and act like a man.
