I had some Dad issues

but they were not the issues that you mention. He was the grassshopper and not the ant.

I suspect a strong conservative father figures does tend to create liberal sons when they focus on career and fail to mentor well. :)

I did that with my girls and they tend to be a bit left of center. It becomes less noticable as they get older. I think I am doing better with my son and grandsons. Not much passes between us on politics, but honor, truth and courage is daily fare. In the end it doesn't matter because we will always get along politically.

My children, my grand children and my union worshiping democrat brother in law are not and will never be liberal in the way that leftwing nut cases want us to be. Our left is damn near fascist compared to theirs and all that is currently shared is a common distrust of the current administration (Read Bush). That will be over soon and the honeymoon that never was will no longer even be an illusion

You are dead on that as a people we are right of center and always will be. Most of the so called left (Don a perfect example) will be happy as 'dead pigs in the sunshine" when a party not identified with Bush and the so called right is in power. It won't matter that nothing much beyond the daily rethoric will be different.

Those who want a Euro/Canadian life style should get on about the business of moving there, because it is what it is in America. Democrat or Republican, I own it, My children and my grandchildren own it along with the 80-90% who are convinced that there is no better place on this planet to live and that ain't going to change for about a thousand years. :)
