I don't know about "rejected."
Most of Christ's followers during his life were Jews. Most of the huge crowds that listened to him preach were Jews. I dare say there were plenty of Jewish converts. Of course, Gentile converts far outnumbered them eventually due to the fact that, at the time, there were a lot more Gentiles around the ancient world than Jews.
