That's why they're changing the subject here back to one of their comfort zones. As long as the myth remains that the solution is "doing something about guns," you don't have to deal with the harder issues this incident raises, a massacre in the state with the strictest gun laws in the country, not to mention a massacre in enlightened France. Or remotely-detonated pipe bombs.
"Doing something" is rarely defined exactly. "More laws, more restrictions." None of which bother people who simply ignore them, as has been demonstrated multiple times.
Liberals mock those who say they want to disarm Americans, but when you actually listen to them talking to each other, that's usually the endgame. "Australia" in the conversation means exactly this.
