From news briefings tonight:

Farouk and his wife were the shooters. There is a third person in custody, who may or may not have been involved.

The shooters were killed in their car in a gun battle with police. Apparently they were shot by police, and did not commit suicide.

Farouk apparently left a meeting or gathering at the shooting scene, and returned a short time later armed. This seems to be workplace violence of some kind. I heard the time between leaving and return was maybe "half an hour." If, as the police said, some kind of explosives were involved, it implies premeditation of some kind, unless Farouk is the world's fastest pipe bomb maker, or just happens to have a few laying around the house along with his weapon stash.

Farouk, at least, is Muslim, born in America. His religion does not seem to be relevant in this case, unless there is some cultural "honor" thing mixed up in it, which nobody has said anything about yet.

This is not organized ISIS-type terror, unless something big has been completely overlooked.

A few comments:

People getting worked up about gun laws are welcome to compare the existing state laws in California, arguably the most restrictive in the nation, to their current legislative wish list. Let me know how it comes out.

Anybody who believes it is possible to confiscate over 300 million guns from the population of the U.S. is an idiot. We are not Japanese.

The "conversation" on guns occurs here on a regular basis. Last time I participated, Mary Anne was here too. When the idea came up then that it might not be actually possible to "fix" this in the United States, it was treated as blasphemy, although nobody really had any workable ideas to rebut it.

But run through the paces again, by all means.
