a clearly identifiable and recognizable target, preferably one that can be spotted from a distance by their accent, dress or complexion. And if they are not immediately available, anyone who doesn't share that view will just have to do in a pinch. Legitimate security personnel and agencies, the real warriors, know they need Muslim allies, they rely on them for intelligence and they know alienating all Muslims will only make the problem much worse by intimidating innocent people, increasing the pool of real and potential enemies and essentially playing into the terrorist narrative. This is why they are so careful about what they say.
But the armchair patriot, safe at home watching Fox or Rush, fondling his shiny new assault rifle, doesn't want to waste time on subtleties and complexity. He jes' wants to git hisself a raghaid.
What I find really terrifying is that the more perceptive, aware Conservative, who certainly can't accept that ugly and overly simplistic scenario, still supports it, still promotes it, at least publicly. I can only surmise it is political. It is a pandering to those he feels are his natural allies. After all, it is an election year, the Obama legacy must be expunged, real issues like health care and tax policy must be "reformed", and their natural constituency is diminishing as the nation gets younger, browner, more urban and poorer.

- Then you're an idiot and I refuse to elaborate further
- Just what do you think Isis "is"? n/t

- Why choose between "gun violence" and "Islamic terrorism"?
- Yemen has less than half the rate of gun violence as does the US. There has to be a way to work together to lessen it.
- It was radical fucking Islamic terrorism. I so "wanted to see that". You ass...I
- Conservatives would rather see recent events as "Islamic Terror" rather than "Gun Violence."
