Arguing with folks repeatedly about the same issues, all the while, knowing they don't comprehend what one is saying and in fact are emotionally disposed to taking each political post as some sort of personal deflation which requires a personal assault in return, after awhile loses any worthwhile purpose.

Count the personal insults you have received in just the last month...it must be hundreds. How many personal insults have you returned? How many have posters have you tried to turn back to the issue at hand?

From here it looks as though you awaiting them to press a crown of thorns upon your head?

That's why most liberals love DKOS, they seriously can't handle the challenge of dealing outside their own particular frame of perception in a civil manner and enjoy having a huge pack to attack anyone outside their mental threshold.

That only the most "civil" balanced conservatives remain here is also a telling statistic in support of your assertion.

At a certain point one's not doing them a favor by responding once they start swinging from the bars of their cages and entering the usual hysterics. They just further despoil what's left of their civil nature under the perceived "provocation."

When equilibrium is one's watchword one can do this all day and not get bent out of shape under the barrage of personal insults - but what does it do to the rest? When one doesn't respond emotionally many tend to get even more infuriated.

So one has to use one's best judgment when disengagement is in their best interests.
