OK, you're right.....most SUV's on the road only have one or two passengers......during the daytime. At 8am and 3pm they are often toting the kids to and from school. And go on the interstate and see how many are LOADED down.
Yes, I have a SUV. One of those things I used to warn everybody were going to be "lawn ornaments". But I needed one for practicality. So I traded in my Florida Celica GT hatchback that got 38 mpg and got a Kia Sportage that gets 20 mpg but has a 10 year, 100,000 power train warranty. It's also a 4 wheel drive, and seeing I'm not sure WHERE I'm going to end up living up here in the mountains, I'll stick with the 4 wheel drive until I do.
I have packed my vehicle SOLID several times gong back and forth to Florida, and it hauls plants, lumber and friends around. I've put 25,000 miles on it in two years.
It's comfortable to drive and has helped me get up and down icy roads in the winter, has dependable rock solid ESP control on rain soaked highways and has heated electric leather seats to instantly warm my Florida tush in these cold NC winters. And a kiss ass sound system and sunroof. I love my KIA, and I'd hate to part with it, even though the payments are killing me.
