Bush will be the scapegoat and as I see it he is responsible for about 10-15 percent of the economic mess we're in. He's deepening his responsibility with Federal interference and when it's all over he will be about 25 percent accountable.
The problems with US economy are deepseated and began in earnest when the Mexican economy collapsed around 1990. This set off a flood of illegals into the US and the economy quickly took a hit as employers used them and billions of dollars just started to evaporate out of our economy keeping Mexico from total collapse.
A large pecentage of those billlions of dollars would have been used by US wage earners to pay their mortgages. The government receives no taxes from these wages and almost no in Mexico has embraced the condom, the pill or even the rhythm method. Like all other 3rd world nations, procreation is Mexico's national pastime and industry in trade.
Those illegals, and all those outsorced jobs can only exist because they work for less than the minimum wage law allows. The answer is so obviously simple - change the law.
We're floating Mexico but in the process they are destroying the US. They had their 18 year free ride and now we are collapsing under the strain.
Yes, 75 percent of our economic weakness is due to almost 20 years of nonstop Mexican illegal immigration and the burdens these 50+ million now have put on our previous national population of 200 million.
That's the 3 ton pink elephant in the corner both parties pretend they don't see. That's the topic where the Straighttalk express goes right off the cliff and Obama's Change is just same ol' same ol' - cursing America to future poverty as a nation overrun by Mexicans.
We already must live in fear of the truth. It has now become a staple in political correctness that the border problem is not really a problem at all - only intolerance is.
The stock mainpulation and mortgage manipulation were stall tactics to keep money in folks hands as their wages went overseas and down to Mexico.
Couple the illegal invasion with exploited gas prices and guess what...the spine on the Camel just broke.
You can't blame it all on Bush or conservatives. BOTH parties have done DIDDLY SQUAT to fix it.

- Jimmy Carter was the problem. Not greed as McCain says. Former President Jimmy Carter.
- And I TOLD him at the time, I said "Jimmy, be careful!"
- Not Clinton, not Carter. It was Roosevelt. We were doing just fine under Hoover.
