One of the main reasons I decided to post here again--at least for a while--is the crap well-meaning people have gotten trying to enter the debate on the "wrong" side. People with good minds who may not have ready access to all the links, or have difficulty in organizing a post or making links. I found I could watch the rabid squirrels go on all day--that's just entertainment. But it started to bug me when they ganged up on people who didn't deserve it.
Steve has made a number of good points on these boards, showing what happened when, and with who. The response he's gotten has generally been the same mindless shitstorm you just let loose.
The history is there for anyone to see. The warnings, and the attempts at stronger regulation. Who set up the house of cards in the first place, who tried to fix it, and who fought it.
Who proposed tighter regulations. Who killed them in committee and elsewhere.
I suspect you've looked up that history yourself, searching for ammunition against someone besides a Democrat.
Go ahead, RL. Take the last ragged remnants of your intellectual integrity, hold it over the toilet, and tell me that the mortgage credit crisis is really about "8 years of Bush."
While you're at it, you can tell me that the entire swaying framework of Federal/taxpayer support for the mortgage system is a free-market concept, created by conservatives and Republicans.

- And I TOLD him at the time, I said "Jimmy, be careful!"
- Not Clinton, not Carter. It was Roosevelt. We were doing just fine under Hoover.
