The British are our strongest European Ally. Our only "allies" in the world have been France, Germany, Japan, the UK, The Phillipines, South Korea and that's about it.
All the other European nations are second tier allies at best.
Heres the pecking order of things:
Britain sold to the rest of Europe, the far east and made their money there.
Germany sold to the rest of Europe (circa 1950-1990) and the US and from 1980-present day generate sizable revenues in the third world Muslim nations, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Syria et al.
France made its money on tourism first and then industrially to Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Iran and several African nations.
Sweden sold its oil to Europe and Russia and now almost everywhere. Now post-Europe unification, Britain is the last of our true allies. German reunification dealt a serious blow to the German body politic and now the nation is drowning in communists and their descendants. France has all its money tied up in the regions we protect Israel from. The Philippines has been growing more Muslim and our relationship their has soured. Japan is still a strong ally but they don't speak English and they, like Israel now must fear a crazy North Korea and a enormously wealthier China. Britain is being overrun slowly by Muslim interests now, as Europe has over the past thirty years. Soon the US will have NO allies in Europe.
Why dop you think Condi spent so much time in India? Why do you think Bush bailed out the banks? India is our next big ally - mainly because they are generally anti-Muslim and will not soon be overrun by folks who want to destroy us - and China must be kept happy because they will not soon be overrun by Muslims either.
Bush's team understood the writing on the walls, the think-tanks accurately predicted the shift in European policy away from the US and towards the 3rd world. If the US is to survive against the Muslim fanatic Europe of the late 21st century and beyond it has to cement strong relations with India, China and even Russia.
Britain is our last holdout in Europe, but it will not be for long. Another 20 years or so, tops, and it will be just as hostile as the rest of Europe has been to US interests.
The British
