to set up coal as a strawman in this argument? This discussion isn't about coal and you know it just as it isn't about capitalism and socialism. It's about common sense.
First off nobody said anything about being in opposition of nuclear power plants. Secondly coal and nuclear are not the only options for power generation. In our neck of the woods there are no coal-fired plants. They all run off of natural gas. Even though solar and wind power can never completely take over our energy mix they are mysteriously absent from your options as a partial source as are massive conservation programs.
There is no way that 250 nuclear power plants can be built within our borders in the near future with the national debt we have now unless you and your "conservative" friends want to pay huge amounts in taxes. The question of waste disposal is not settled and must be addressed and funded before any new construction begins. Can we bury it in your back yard?
You and Tom's debating style is dishonest and lazy. Somehow you think you can just throw out outrageous statements and quotes from obviously biased sources and that's the end of issue. It doesn't work that way. If you want to come up with solutions, do some honest analysis with all sides presented. Otherwise it's just more of the same - political propaganda.

Is that all you've got

- Lamar Alexander calls for more nuclear plants
- I agree
- Just what we need. Waste STILL more money on nuclear power. (n/t)
- Sounds like a good idea, but there needs to be a major educational effort first
- I agree with Lamarr
- I'd like to see 500 reactors built.
- Just a suggestion
