It's not a "sudden allergy to subsidies". It's a recognition of just the opposite, how free enterprise and its boosters have suddenly no objection to them when it means subsidizing an already highly profitable industry. Whether or not subsidies for nuclear power is a good or bad thing or not is debatable (personally, I have no objections). It just would be refreshing if the free enterprise lobby would just admit that they've been in bed with big government for years, in fact, they couldn't get along without it. Government-business collaboration is what makes American capitalism possible. The days when the private sector bootstrapped the nation into prosperity were a long time ago, if indeed, those days ever existed at all.
