An interesting read.
The last thing the Earth needs is for Tim Allen to go up and save the planet entirely by accident (BTW: I enjoyed his Galaxy Quest adventure).
As ER states, oddities found in just about anything in the world may be just that. Oddities. Conditions align, and strange things happen.
I read a book once where a guy speculated on UFOs and decided there was no reason ever to be visited on this tiny planet adrift in the boondocks of the galaxy. ...And another more recently who suggested the planet Earth was like a crumb of bread tossed in a river, just waiting for some giant meanie to swoop in from the shies or soar up from the depths and -- chomp!
No one really knows what to expect of anything.
