BUT, the lack of follow-up from "the Pentagon" after the dropping of such an enormous bombshell tells me something smells about the whole affair. You will note the responsible media hasn't been trying very hard to get to the bottom of the story either. I think they sense something bogus too.
This has been relegated to the supermarket checkout tabloids along with Bigfoot sightings and Princess Diana murder conspiracies. A legit story like this would have either been denied vigorously by the DOD or explained away in meticulous detail. My guess (and I admit it is only a guess) is that its a smokescreen, a distraction. The Pentagon may well be covering something up, but I'll wager it has nothing to do with UFOs.
