Its a misinformation campaign.

Everyone is referring to these "DOD Sources" but so far I have not heard them identified, no press conferences, no talking heads, no traceable reporting, no one with a name and stars on his shoulders in front of a camera telling us about it. Nada. All I hear is third hand rumors.

Its either yellow journalism (fake news) or a deliberately planted tall tale to let "the other side" think we're in league with aliens, or have alien gear, so our enemies will waste resources trying to track it down or confirm it.

Part of the intelligence game is trying to cover up what you've got, but another part is "leaking" what you haven't got.

Alien tech will not look like Star Trek, or Star Wars. It won't even be recognizable as technology to us. It will be so far ahead of us it will seem biological, or meteorological, or godlike, or magic.

Remember, 19th century UFOs (yes, they did have them) all looked like dirigibles.
