Should we have? I dunno. The American response to Obama's attempt is pretty clear.
I agree that we're unlilkely to get another chance, at least not for a very long time. Obama's staked his Presidency on this, and if the Dems get trounced in November, and the current admin is replaced two years' hence, no politician of any stripe will want to talk healthcare.
Maybe they'll be ready to look at it again when one of our grandkid's is President. Maybe not.
